What's Tamarillo

The tamarillo (Solanum betaceum) is a small tree or shrub in the flowering plant family Solanaceae (the nightshade family). It is best known as the species that bears the tamarillo, an egg-shaped edible fruit.[2] It is also known as the tree tomato,[3] tomate de árbol, tomate andino, tomate serrano, blood fruit, poor man's tomatoe, tomate de yuca, tomate de españa, sachatomate, berenjena, chilto and tamamoro in South America, tyamtar, rambheda or rukh tamatar (lit. tree tomatoes) in Nepal, and terong Belanda (Dutch eggplant) in Indonesia. SEED EXTRACTION

To prepare the seeds

The seed of Tamarillo it must be from the healthiest trees It's forbidden to sow the seed from the the effected diseases trees, Because the seeds from diseases's trees ,they will spread those diseases after germination.

TO PREPARE THE SEEDS WHICH IT WILL PRODUCE THE GOOD HARVEST.

••>For The choosing where the seeds it will come from, it's necessary to be very attention for the following fact: Choose the good health's tree which it grew in better condition and also having many and biggest fruits. Pick up the fruits which you have chosen Take the water mixed with jik(bleach) or water mixed with high quantity of salt. Wash your fruits in this mixed water. ••>This process kill the bacteria found on the fruits. Cut into two parts the fruit and collect the seeds mixed with tamarillo juice ,use the spoon. After keep this mixture in bottle add the small quantity of water , wait 24hours. After you must filter these seeds from the juice and wash well the seeds with Janelle water (5%), After cleaning take these seeds in cool dry place of cause of to be dry in good condition. Then after keep your seeds in paper envelope bit it has at least 3 months of expiration.

GROWING OF TAMARILLO

The new farm must be far away from the old farm. It's necessary to cultivate the tamarillo germination in the rain season; The better period of plantation is September and October. The tamarillo must be cultivated in lines for the dimensions of 1 or 1.5 meter between tree and other, And 4.5 or 5.0 meter between line and other.

This distance helps the tamarillo to receive the sun light on better quantity and producing the better harvest and facilitate the spreading of insecticide and other fungicide with pump for easy way.

Every tree needs 80gr of NPK17-17-17 and 3gr of organic fertilizer for the first stage of its planting.

DISEASES AND PEST

The problem which ever appear in the tamarillo plantation, it's the disease called powederly mildew caused by the microbiology of fungus familiar called oidium sp reduced by using insecticide mixed with soap.

Tree tomatoes(Tamarillo) are generally pest resistant.

The main pests that attack the tree include the aphids, thrips whiteflies, and nematodes

Aphids

These are small black or greenish soft-bodied sap-sucking insects and members of the superfamily Aphidoidea.

They feed by piercing and sucking sap on tender shoots, especially on the lower leaf surface. The attacked shoots become stunted and the leaves are curled and twisted.

As they feed, aphids excrete honeydew which favours the growth of sooty mold which affects photosynthesis.

Whiteflies

They are tiny sap-sucking white-winged insects which cause damage by inserting their stylets into leaf veins and extracting nourishment from the phloem sap.

NEMATODE,is the worm of the phylum nematoda. Nematode,are among the most abundant animals or Earth, they occur as parasites in animals and plants. or a free-living forms in soilfresh wa5er,marine. The nematodes is in family of Ascarididae.it caused by Meloidogyne sp worm, The consequence of nematodes it cause the roots rot or crown rot caused by phyo-tophthora sp and the deteriorations of the branches.
